A total of 194 researchers affiliated with Ethiopian institutions appear in the single-year ranking of the Stanford/Elsevier "Top 2% Scientists" database, according to an Ethiopian Business Review analysis of the dataset, published on 12 October.
The outlet put the Ethiopian figure at about 0.08% of the 236,313 authors listed in the table.
Ethiopian Business Review reported that medical sciences led the Ethiopian entries.
The figure comes from the publication's own analysis of the dataset.
