Ethiopia and Algeria signed a series of legal agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in judicial and justice sectors.
The accords were signed in Addis Ababa by Minister of Justice Hanna Araya Selassie and Lotfi Boudjemaa, Algeria's Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals.
The agreements establish a comprehensive framework for mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. The framework includes streamlined investigations, enhanced judicial procedures, and closer coordination between law enforcement institutions of both countries.
The signing represents part of Ethiopia's broader engagement with African partners on institutional cooperation. Both countries participate actively in continental legal frameworks through their African Union membership.
Ethiopia has pursued similar judicial cooperation agreements with other African nations as part of efforts to strengthen regional legal coordination. Algeria maintains significant influence in continental affairs and has supported various AU initiatives on governance and legal harmonization across member states.
